Canned Tuna

Canned Tuna from Thailand

Siam Petra Global coordinates sourcing of canned tuna for importers, food-service distributors, wholesalers and private-label buyers. Product options may include skipjack tuna in solid, chunk, flakes or shredded presentations, depending on the producer and the available production programme.

Typical applications and buyers

  • Solid, chunk, flake and shredded presentations
  • Brine, water, soybean oil, sunflower oil, olive oil or rice bran oil where available
  • Retail and food-service formats
  • OEM labels and cartons, subject to minimum production quantities

Key parameters to specify

Canned seafood is bought on the specification of a particular factory SKU rather than on a generic product name. The cut, the packing medium, the can format and the label all have to be settled together, because each one narrows which producers can actually run the order.

  1. Species and cut
  2. Drained and net weight
  3. Packing medium
  4. Can size and cans per carton
  5. Destination labelling
  6. Halal and food-safety requirements
  7. Monthly volume and destination port
Halal certification mark of the Central Islamic Committee of Thailand

Halal certification

Canned tuna can be supplied with Halal certification issued by the Central Islamic Committee of Thailand, where the producing cannery holds a valid certificate for the product. For canned seafood the certificate covers the packing media and the processing line as well as the fish, so confirm it against the exact pack — oil, brine or sauce — rather than against the species alone. Certification is held by the cannery, not by SPG, and applies to that facility and product. Tell us if Halal documentation is required and we will confirm availability before an offer is made.

Quality and export documentation

Product specifications, production-lot certificates of analysis, food-safety certificates, Halal documentation where applicable, origin documents, the commercial invoice and the packing list can be reviewed or coordinated, subject to the supplier, the shipment and the importing market. Certification is held by the producing facility, not by SPG.

Frequently asked questions

Can tuna be supplied under my brand?

Private-label can and carton artwork may be possible, subject to factory approval, minimum order quantity and destination labelling requirements.

Which tuna cuts are available?

Common commercial presentations are solid, chunk, flakes and shredded. Which of them a given factory runs depends on its production programme, so state the cut you need in the enquiry.

Can you supply different packing media?

Availability of brine, water and edible oils depends on the factory and the SKU. Name the medium your market expects so availability is checked against the right production.
